USYCA is pleased to welcome the Cricket Club of Illinois to the team! CCI is committed to promoting and enjoying the game of cricket at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
CCI was founded in 1985 by a group of dedicated enthusiasts, to promote the game of cricket at the University of Illinois. It was one of the first organized cricket clubs founded in the region at the time. Over the last two decades CCI has had a very diverse group of members coming from different countries and cultures.
From moving season to season of playing cricket to a few gatherings outside of the season, they have recently been looking to expand cricket in the area. They are now coaching children by going to schools and are putting every effort to spread the interest in the game of cricket in the local community.
"We're delighted to have the enthusiastic members of the Cricket Club of Illinois working with USYCA to grow the game in Urbana-Champaign," said President Jamie Harrison. "The initiative they've already shown demostrates their vision and committment to the sport, and I expect great things from them."
