August 1, 2012

On July 28, the Lutherville-Timonium Recreation Council team took two matches from the Bowie Boys and Girls Club, 51-22 and 39-22. The friendlies were the first-ever cricket matches between junior programs in the state of Maryland.
Next year, these programs will become part of a new Maryland junior cricket league with new junior cricket pitches partially funded by USYCA, while the experiment, so successful this summer, will be expanded and replicated nationwide. USYCA is also incorporating existing junior programs into its network, and will use these programs as the starting point for expansion and new leagues in places where they exist.
Congratulations to LTRC head coach Warren Prestwich and BBGC head coach Sham Chotoo, who along with South Carroll Cricket's Greg Edwards, will guide their new junior cricket programs into an exciting future.
