On the second week of play in the Maryland Junior Cricket League, visiting Germantown swept homestanding Lutherville-Timonium, taking a three-wicket victory in the "A" game, while handing LTRC a 34-run loss in the "B" game.
In the "A" game, Germantown's Dheeraj Sharma led all scorers with 17 runs from 12 balls, including 2 fours and a six, while teammates Del Desi and Azeem Mohammad both had a pair of fours, with Desai notching 12 runs from 8 and Mohammad getting 10 from 10. For Lutherville-Timonium, Will Prestwich led the way with 12 runs from 30 balls, including a four, while Jaspreet Singh had a four and a six while making 11 from 10. Raja Herman and Tom Prestwich each collected a boundary in the loss.
The bowlers' honors went to a pair of Germantown bowlers, Jay Doshi and Azeem Mohammad, both collecting three wickets for six runs, with Doshi bowling two along the way. For LTRC, Kiran Herman and Jaspreet Singh were both 2-15, with Singh bowling one.
In the field, Germantown's Nikhil Sahni led all with two catches.
In the "B" game, Sannuthi Samuel of Germantown top-scored with 18 runs from 10 balls, including a four and two sixes, while teammate Ameya Deshmukh collected 17 from 12 with three fours. Germantown's Saurav Pandey also reached double-digits, picking up a boundary on the way to his 10 runs from six balls. For Lutherville-Timonium, Kevin Metzler carried his team's innings with 15 from 14, including two fours and a six, while Cole Bradford had 9 off of 10 balls, including one boundary.
In this match, the Germantown bowlers were dominant, with Kshitij Gupta, Shiv Luthra and Dillen Patel each grabbing two wickets. For LTRC, Alex Hart grabbed the lone wicket.
Germantown's Aneesh Acharya led all fielders with two catches.
In Cockeysville, the home team's "A" squad picked up a comprehensive win over visiting Bowie, 109-23, while the "B" teams played an exciting match that left Bowie falling just one run short of victory.
In the "A" match, Jay Razvi led the batting with 25 from 12 balls, including six boundaries. Teammates Alex Dua and Sami Sabeeh continued their success at the crease, with Dua getting 17 from 8 with a four and two sixes while Sabeeh collected 17 from 11, and also had a four and two sixes. Avaskash Bhat also had a good day with the bat, getting 18 from 17 and three boundaries. Tyler Chotoo was the danger man for Bowie, getting 15 from 11 balls, along with two fours and a six.
Jay Razvi also led the way with the ball, taking three wickets while allowing only two runs. Razvi's Cockeysville teammates Avaskash Bhat, Eshan Goel and Sami Sabeeh each had two wickets apiece in the win, with Sabeeh registering the match's only maiden over. Bowie's Tyler Chotoo was also dangerous as a bowler, taking 3 for 13 runs in his fours overs, while teammates Austin and Jared King each picked up a wicket in the loss.
In the "B" match, Bowie's Leah Arrieta led all scoreres witrh 7 runs, while Nathan Zacharski had 5 and brother Joesph had 4. For Cockeysville, Omar Qazi top-scored with 5 runs, with sister Maria Qazi picking up 4. Maria Qazi also took a wicket for Cockeysville. Alyssa Logan took a wicket for Bowie.
Next week is a scheduled break in play, as it is Independence Day weekend. Matches resume on July 14, with Bowie traveling to Germantown and Lutherville-Timonium hosting Cockeysville.
