From the Washington Cricket League:
The Washington Cricket League is proud to announce the launch of its fully fledged youth cricket league starting in June 2012. The program is designed to introduce cricket to various age groups.
The 2012 League will commence on June 23, 2012 and end on August 31, 2012. Games will be scheduled on weekends. Typical game times should not be more than 2 hours.
WHERE: The games will be scheduled in the Northern Virginia, Montgomery County and PG County
TEAMS: Teams will be formed according to age group and location. Teams will consist of 7-10 players.
UNIFORMS: Each player will be provided with a white T Shirt free. Players are required to have white shorts/pants, shoes and guards
EQUIPMENT: Basic equipment balls, bats, leg guards and helmets will be provided. Players are encouraged to buy their kits. A list of approved suppliers will be provided
APPROACH: For children between 5-6 years of age, the emphasis will be on learning and fun; Ages 7-9 will combine several structured elements into a game to encourage maximum participation and some emphasis on techniques; Ages 10-14 will focus on structured cricket games with more emphasis on mastery of cricket fundamentals
