USYCA is happy to welcome to its ranks the Sarasota International Cricket Club. The SICC was formed in 1983 and has as a patron Richie Benaud, renowned cricketer, broadcaster and a member of the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame. Benaud opened SICC's pavilion in April 1994. Many other notable international cricketers have been drawn to play at SICC, such as West Indies star Shivnarine Chanderpaul who is a regular visitor and player for the club.
The SICC will hit the ground running, as they launch a new youth cricket program next month.
"The Sarasota International Cricket Club is delighted to be a member and suporter of the USYCA," SICC Captain Richard Lawrence said. "We look forward to learning from others in the Association and doing our part in bringing cricket to more and more American children. Children benefit from learning a game that brings together people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. And cricket gains by tapping the huge pool of young American athletic talent."
"USYCA is proud to have the Sarasota International Cricket Club among its members," President Jamie Harrison said. "With this committed group of cricketers working in such a great location, I'm certain that SICC's youth program will be an overwhelming success."
