On April 18, PE teachers from schools in the Archdiocese of Arlington, Virginia gathered at Nativity Catholic School in Burke to receive cricket training and cricket sets from USYCA.
Terri Sanders of St. Mark Catholic School in Vienna organized the cricket launch.
"Having taught elementary school physical education for the past nine years, being given the equipment and training to teach a new sport to my students is thrilling," said Sanders. "The added value of exposing the students to a sport they may not have encountered before is a great opportunity."
Sanders seems ready to embrace cricket outside of school, too.
"I'm interested in going to watch cricket downtown to really get the full experience of the game," Sanders said. |
